A New Model

SOMA operates at the crossroads of gallery and institution. SOMA embraces its industrial heritage to become a site for experimentation, dialogue, and exchange.

The space will be rooted in collaboration, not only with artists, but with galleries, dealers, and institutions, fostering a dynamic ecosystem where roles, disciplines, and practices intersect.

SOMA operates at the crossroads of gallery and institution, offering a new model for contemporary art.

Far from the traditional domestic setting, SOMA embraces its industrial heritage to become a site for experimentation, dialogue, and exchange.

The space will be rooted in collaboration, not only with artists, but with galleries, dealers, and institutions, fostering a dynamic ecosystem where roles, disciplines, and practices intersect.

Team

  • Mighela Shama Lorenceau

Mighela studied Fine Art at Central Saint Martins Collage of Art and Design in London, before spending close to a decade at Chanel in Karl Lagerfeld’s inner circle in Paris.

After returning to Geneva, she founded an artist residency and Galerie Mighela Shama in 2018, both dedicated to emerging artists. In 2024, while searching for a new home for the gallery, she discovered a former metal factory and transformed it into an art center: SOMA.

  • Clara Theler Jaccaud

Clara was born into the art world, surrounded by images. She honed her eye through observation and by working with Galerie Skopia. In 2024, she joined Galerie Mighela Shama, paving the way for a new chapter. She is now actively contributing to the development of SOMA, working alongside the Founder Director to bring this new artistic project to life.
